Will Smith Says There Have Been Meetings For A Deadshot Solo Movie

Warner Brothers already has a lot of DC Extended Universe movies on its plate, but there's still be a number of projects and spinoffs rumored for the studio's burgeoning superhero franchise, one of which includes a standalone move for Will Smith's Suicide Squad character, Deadshot.

Reports regarding a Deadshot standalone movie have been running around the rumor mill ever since December 2016, and while the DCEU has gone through a lot of changes since that time, Smith still seems pretty interested in seeing his character get his own spin-off adventure in the DCEU.

Taking to YouTube to respond to his fans questions, Smith decided to answer a query about the possibility of seeing a Deadshot movie in the DCEU.

"I hope so. I love playing Deadshot. I really enjoyed that character. They've been talking about it. So if a good idea comes around, we've been having meetings. But I would love to. I love Deadshot," the actor replied in a video.

Despite being a commercial success with its $746.8 million global haul, Suicide Squad was a major flop for Warner Brother's superhero franchise, receiving criticism and negative reviews from both fans and critics. However, while the film wasn't well-received by audiences, fans did love Margot Robbie's performance as Harley Quinn as well as Will Smith's performance as Deadshot.

Though a Deadshot standalone would seem likely given that Harley was given her own all-female team-up movie Birds of Prey, Warner Brothers is currently engaged working on Aquaman, Shazam!, and of course, Wonder Woman 1984.
