News broke out yesterday that Gina Carano has officially been terminated from her Lucasfilm contract and with the controversial actress leaving the hit Star Wars spinoff show The Mandalorian, the question on a lot of people's mind right now is: what will happen to her character Cara Dune?
Lucasfilm confirmed in a statement that they're cutting ties with the MMA fighter turned Hollywood star after her "tasteless" post about Republicans, Jews, and the Holocaust went viral and they have no plans of bringing her back anytime soon.
As it stands, we still don't know what the company's next move will be but considering Cara Dune also plays a prominent role in the series, along with other supporting characters, they can't just write her off from the show. Naturally, the best option would be to find a new actress who will serve as Carano's replacement and keep Dune in the story.
Apparently, Star Wars fans already have an actress in mind, and as soon as the news came out about Carano's firing, they quickly stormed social media to campaign for Once Upon a Time star Lana Parrilla to be on the third season of The Mandalorian. Check out some of the tweets here:
If the reports are true that Season 3 will begin filming in April, Lucasfilm needs to act quickly and find Carano's official successor right away. Unless, of course, they have plans of killing off the character in the upcoming season. One thing's for sure though, the creators and writers of the show are probably under extreme pressure right now following Gina's exit.
The Mandalorian Season 3 is scheduled to premiere in 2022.
