Will Konosuba Have a Season 3? When Will It Release?

Ever got tired of how isekai can get kind of repetitive sometimes? Then KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!, an anime that likes to parody and veer away from the regular isekai tropes, is a must-watch. There’s the usual “main character gets hit by a truck and transported into a fantasy world” aspect, but there’s more to it than that and it really just gets crazier from there.

KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!), or just Konosuba, is an anime by Studio Deen, adapted from the light novel series of Natsume Akatsuki. It currently has two seasons, which aired in 2016 and 2017. A movie was also released in 2019 by J.C. Staff.

After dying (quite embarrassingly if I may add), a high school student named Kazuma Satou is transported to some sort of MMORPG-type fantasy world with Aqua, a beautiful goddess. Sounds great, right? Not really, she’s seemingly useless. As much as Kazuma wants to go on a bunch of adventures similar to the ones he experienced in his video games, he and Aqua must first struggle to survive living in this world. They don’t even have a place to stay, nor a significant amount of money. Basically a pair of noobs.

Eventually, their duo turns into a party as two other girls, Megumin and Darkness, join them. The dynamic between all these four characters is a chaotic one—the anime showing them getting into situations that are sure to make you laugh. After all, Kazuma’s group has a goddess who uses her powers for party tricks, a wizard who only knows one spell, and a masochistic crusader. What else could go wrong with this combination of characters?

As of now, there is no official release date nor announcements yet for the third season of Konosuba. The light novel series finished last May 2020, totaling 17 volumes. With the first two seasons of the anime covering volumes 1-4 and the movie covering the 5th, there is still a lot to cover for the series.

Konosuba still has a great following—so hopefully, there will be an official announcement soon. The movie was a success in Japan, earning 200 million yen during its first weekend as reported by Crunchyroll. That should be enough to show that we need more of our crazy chaotic party and their misadventures!
