The first time Jamie Lee Curtis was cast to play Laurie Strode's role in the 1978 horror, Halloween, no one expected her to continually be in the franchise as the final girl. And for years, Curtis has reprised the role in succeeding films: Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills (2021), and Halloween Ends (2022).

But it looks like Curtis has finally waved goodbye to the role once and for all.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Curtis revealed that Halloween Ends is the last film from the franchise that she will be part of.

The 63-year-old actress said:

"I need to now cut her loose and let her live in the minds and hearts of the fans that have supported her. I now get to go off and do my own thing."

Curtis also shares in the exclusive video how difficult it was to do a horror movie:

"The whole concept of a horror movie is to stimulate emotions, and the making of it does the same thing. So to have done it three times with a group of people, and knowing that I'm not going to get to do it again with that same group of people, really has been very tough for me. It will be difficult to say goodbye to this group of people. Thank you so much for all of it."

The first time Curtis played the role of Laurie Strode was in the Halloween (1978) movie. She was only 19 years old at that time when she played the role of the babysitter who turned out to be the only survivor in the slasher film.

The film then spawned an entire film franchise extending to 44 years. And ever since then, Curtis has reprised her role as Laurie in a number of these movies, such as:

Curtis also had an uncredited voice role in Halloween III: Season of the Witch.

Curtis wrote a personal essay for People magazine where she shared how "everything good in my life can be traced back to Laurie."

For starters, the first time she saw her husband, Christopher Guest, was on a Rolling Stone magazine. At that time, she was with the original writer of Halloween, Debra Hill, when she said "I'm gonna marry that guy." The two have been married 37 years now.

Curtis also shared that Halloween introduced her to director John Landis, who helped her show the world her funny side with Trading Places. In turn, this movie helped her land A Fish Called Wanda, True Lies, and Freaky Friday.

She ends her note with:

"It's now the end for Laurie and me. ... Movies are make-believe, but this is my real life. Mine has been made better by her. ... I am scared right now, as I hang up my bell-bottoms and say goodbye to Halloween. Life is scary. But Laurie taught me that life can also be beautiful, filled with love and art and life! Thank you all for MINE!"
