Thanks to how popular it continues to be, many anime fans are asking: Will Frieren get a season 2? There’s no official announcement yet, but here are our predictions.
From the looks of it, there’s a good chance that the show will be renewed for a new season. After all, it has become a hugely successful series.
Exploring the Success of the Frieren Anime
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End gets new episodes weekly on Crunchyroll. While there are no official viewership numbers from Crunchyroll, there are many indicators of the show’s success elsewhere.
Aside from being a regular trending topic on X and Reddit every time a new episode airs, Frieren has also continued to get glowing reviews.
This is based not only on Crunchyroll’s official page but also on other major anime websites like MyAnimeList. In fact, the show is still at the top of MyAnimeList’s all-time ranking.
Of course, this has happened before with many shows like Oshi no Ko, but the ratings eventually go down. With Frieren though, there’s a chance it continues to be at the top, as it has been there for months now.
Aside from high ratings, the Frieren manga has also exploded in popularity. In September 2023 before the anime premiered, the manga had over 10 million copies in circulation.
Then, in December 2023, the manga’s circulation numbers shot up to 17 million copies. No circulation figures have been released for 2024, though it won’t be surprising to see it get to 20 million.

Until What Chapter Will the Frieren Anime Cover?
Given its success, Frieren is in a good spot to get renewed. It also helps that there should be enough source material for a sequel.
Based on the anime’s current pace, the first season will end after the final stage of the First Class Mage Exam arc, which is in chapter 60.
As the manga is now over 120 chapters long, there’s easily enough material for another two-cour season.
Will Frieren Get a Season 2? Our Predictions
Based on its success coupled with the fact that there are a lot of chapters remaining, it’s fair to say that Frieren getting a season 2 is all but guaranteed. The only question now is when it will be renewed.
Popular shows like Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer have gotten new season announcements shortly after their last season’s ending. Thus, Frieren season 2 may be announced in March after the season 1 finale.
This would be great news for fans, though the wait will likely be long. At best, the show will likely return in 2025, though that’s if the studio and its staff will be free.
