Why We Loved Stan Lee’s Cameo in Marvel’s Spider-Man

Stan Lee might be gone but his legend lives on with many of us still reeling from the icon's death. Watching Marvel movies won't be the same once his cameos are gone with reports claiming that Avengers 4 will be his final one in the MCU. Fans will reminisce about all of his cameos, ranking them in a certain order, and trying to find the best one.

One of his most recent ones put a very big smile on the faces of fans and it was during Insomniac's acclaimed Spider-Man game on the PS4. It was similar to one of his many cameos in the MCU, as it was quick, humorous, and something most fans will enjoy. However, it also had a brief line that comic book fans liked, given Spidey and Mary Jane's complicated dating life in that universe.

During a quick dinner scene where Peter Parker is forced to leave Mary Jane ("saved by the siren…") and Stan says he is happy seeing both of them together again. In the game, they had broken up for six months and get back together by the end. However, fans of the comic liked this because Joe Quesada forced them to break up via the awful One More Day storyline.

Admittedly, the two are back together now in the comics, thanks to writer Nick Spencer, but it took a really long time for this to happen. Still, Stan's cameo was great and it's a shame that we won't be seeing him in other games afterward.

Spider-Man PS4 is available for purchase now.
