Jessica Chastain has broken her silence and experienced disagreement on Apple TV+'s decision to postpone the premiere of the new series The Savant.
Just days before its release, the streamer made the surprising decision to indefinitely postpone The Savant due to the recent political events that might remind viewers when they watch the series. The announcement was met with outcry by TV critics who have seen the screeners and fans who were looking forward to its premiere, which was originally supposed to take place this Friday.

In a statement posted on X, Chastain addressed Apple TV+'s decision to postpone the release of her new series The Savant.
She shared that she was "not aligned" with the streamer's decision and believes that the series needs to be seen today more than ever due to its timely message that will resonate with the current political climate.
"I want to say how much I value my partnership with Apple. They’ve been incredible collaborators, and I deeply respect their team. That said, I wanted to reach out and let you know that we’re not aligned on the decision to pause the release of The Savant. In the last five years, since we’ve been making the show, we’ve seen an unfortunate amount of violence in the United States," the Oscar winner wrote.
After enumerating some of the political events that happened in the last few months, Chastain added, "These incidents, though far from encompassing the full range of violence witnessed in the United States, illustrate a broader mindset that crosses the political spectrum and must be confronted."
"I’ve never shied away from difficult subjects, and while I wish this show wasn’t so relevant, unfortunately, it is. The Savant is about the heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens, and honoring their courage feels more urgent than ever," she continued.
"While I respect Apple’s decision to pause the release for now, I remain hopeful the show will reach audiences soon. Until then, I’m wishing safety and strength for everyone, and I’ll let you know if and when The Savant is released."
What is The Savant About?
The Savant is described as a "tense and high-stakes thriller" that follows an undercover investigator known as "The Savant" as she infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to stop domestic extremists before they act.
Aside from Chastain, the cast also includes Nnamdi Asomugha, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste, and guest star Pablo Schreiber.
The series will have a limited run of eight episodes. No new release date has been set yet since the postponement of the premiere was announced.
