Why is Kong Wearing a Glove?
If you watched the trailer of the new MonsterVerse film and were surprised with Kong's new glove, you're not alone. And yes, that is the trailer for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, not another Transformers movie.

But allow us to answer why is Kong wearing a glove in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
In the new movie, Kong and Godzilla struggle to be a match to the Titan called Skar King. Not to mention, Skar King has also brought back Shimo, an ancient Titan.
One of Shimo's abilities is to blast powerful ice rays to his enemy.
Unfortunately, Kong gets a blast of Shimo's ice ray, which freezes his battle axe. Since Kong was holding the axe, his arm was also hit by the ice ray, causing it to get frozen.
When he reunites with Ilene and their allies, Kong's right arm has already been severely frostbitten and is barely capable of functioning.

Who Developed Kong's Mechanical Arm?
Thankfully, the Monarch was able to develop a gauntlet called B.E.A.S.T. (Bio Enhanced Anatomech Seismic Thunder) for Kong. They started working on this gauntlet to create armored robots that would protect against an attack from Godzilla.
The bright yellow mechanical arm proves to be helpful to Kong as his mobility range is improved. Not only that, Kong's punches have gotten stronger.
The glove fits Kong's right arm perfectly. It starts from the elbow to his fingertips.
There is also a swivel ring at the wrist so that more rotational movements can be achieved.
Trapper (played by Dan Stevens) is able to use one of the arms to Kong's advantage. Before attaching the mechanical arm, Trapper also heals Kong's injuries using a special serum.
This is just a "minor augmentation" to Kong.
