Heidi is the name of the parasite that has found its way to the main character of the K-Drama, Jeong Su-In (played by Jeon So-Nee).

Her name comes from the classic novel, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Since the host is female, they have changed the name to Heidi.

This was a nickname suggested by Seol Kang-Woo (played by Koo Kyo-Hwan) when he encountered the parasite version of Su-In.

He is also the one who lets Su-In know of the presence of Heidi in her body.

Like the original source material of the K-Drama, Heidi is like Migi, who was able to build a symbiotic relationship with its host. Unfortunately, their kin considers them either a "pathetic failure" or a "dangerous threat."

This is why Heidi asked Kang-Woo to alert Su-In about the tremors she encounters in her mind. She tells her host to stay away from other members of their kin.

So why is Heidi helping Su-In? That's because she needs Su-In to survive. If Su-In dies, she does too.

Also, this isn't the first time Heidi helped Su-In. When she first entered Su-In's body, Heidi helped heal her. This is because she had been badly wounded by a madman eager to kill her off after a nonsense scuffle.

After stabbing her from the back a few times, Su-In fell to the ground and almost passed out. Fortunately, the spore carrying Heidi landed near her, which is how it was able to find its way.

Because Heidi tended to her wounds, she did not have enough time to control Su-In's brain. This is why she decided to live with her host symbiotically and ensure that she doesn't get harmed.

She also only comes out whenever she senses Su-In is in danger. Other than that, she avoids being seen by either humans or other members of her kin, who see her as a threat.
