Why is Eida Obsessed With Kawaki in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations? Explained

As the story of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations progresses, new characters appear, and one of the latest villains introduced in the popular manga series by Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto is Eida, an ex-Kara member and a cyborg created by Amado. Created by integrating Scientific Ninja tools into the human body, Eida and her little brother Daemon were formed as weapons meant to destroy Jigen. She was cryogenically frozen for several years until the villain Code awakens her.

But some fans are asking: "Why is Eida obsessed with Kawaki?". In this article, we provide an explanation to why Eida wants Kawaki to be her boyfriend, but before we get to that, let's talk about Eida's abilities.

What are Eida's powers?

After Code awakens Eida in the Kara hideout, it was revealed that Eida has the power of Senrigan, an ability to perceive everything that's currently happening in the world and all that's happened in the past, up to the point she was born. Just like most members in Kara, she's been modified with Scientific Ninja ware, and from her modifications, her very presence makes all who sees her, man or woman, become automatically infatuated with her to the point they cannot hurt her. However's there are two types of people who can be immune to her siren-like charm: blood relatives and Otsutsuki.

Eida's greatest desire is to find someone who's immune her infatuation powers. She is looking for her one true love, someone who can genuinely love her without being affected by her ability. Boruto and Kawaki become the perfect contenders for her wish due to their karma seals making them part-Otsutsuki.

After Eida agreed to help Code achieve his ultimate goal of cultivating a God Tree, Code said that either Boruto or Kawaki would be a suitable offering to nurture the God Tree, and that one of them could potentially be the boyfriend she desired.

Although Kawaki proposed to be taken by Code to protect Naruto, Eida believes that he wants to meet her out of gratitude. She reckons Kawaki would fall in love with her for trying to keep him out of Code's ultimate goal of cultivating the God Tree.

When Boruto showed up and tried to stop Kawaki from surrendering himself, Eida watches them with her Senrigan. Thinking that Boruto is cute as well, she concludes that she'd be content with either of them as her boyfriend. However, her affections come across as superficial and shallow as she shows no hesitation at the prospect of sacrificing Boruto to save Kawaki.

Eida hates Amado for depriving her of the opportunity to be genuinely loved by someone and thus, vowed to kill him as revenge, but the clairvoyant cyborg ended up saving Amado's life from Code after his limiters were rescinded by Amado.

Recent chapters of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations also featured Eida showing more romantic interest in Kawaki than Boruto. In Boruto Chapter 74, Eida finally meets Kawaki and Boruto, and as they start to cohabitate, we'll likely see her interact more with both of them, but will either of them fall in love with her?

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter 75 will likely show us more of Eida and her (and Daemon's) experience living with Boruto and Kawaki.
