Why Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is The Perfect Debut for The X-Men [THEORY EXPLAINED]

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be the MCU’s biggest cross-over in history after its recent milestone, Spider-Man: No Way Home. According to recent reports, plenty of characters will make a cameo in the Doctor Strange sequel, mostly coming from different franchises. Reports also claim that the film will feature some X-Men characters from Fox. This seems very likely after the recent trailer dropped a teaser for Patrick Stewart’s Professor X.

While it looks like Marvel has already confirmed that certain characters will make an appearance in the Doctor Strange sequel, we still don't have a lot of information on the other character's cameos. Some reports say that characters like Superior Iron Man (Tom Cruise), Peggy Carter as a Captain America Variant, Human Torch, Killmonger, and Kang are rumored to appear. While these rumors remain a mystery, one particular character from a different franchise long ago was Patrick Stewart’s, Professor X.

Stewart made his debut in the 2000’s X-Men film up until 2006’s X-Men The Last Stand. Professor X was a classic Comic book character who leads the X-Men and owns the school of mutants, The X-Mansion. Professor X has a vast mental ability that ables him to control people, do mental illusions, cause mental and physical paralysis, and even alter specific memories and amnesia.

Since the voice teaser of Stewart’s Professor X in the recent trailer seems to confirm his appearance in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel, there’s a possibility that we can also expect the X-Men universe coming to the MCU. And this theory explains how the Multiverse of Madness is their best entrance into the MCU.

We all know that Multiverse of Madness will be Doctor Strange and Wanda’s exploration of the Multiverse. Together with Wong and MCU’s newcomer, America Chavez. They will be going through different universes and will encounter different variants of characters and even variants of themselves. Theories and leaks claim that Wanda and Doctor Strange will meet Professor X, who is the leader of The Illuminati, a group of highly-powerful individuals that protect the Multiverse. Leaks also claim that The Illuminati also has soldiers that consist of some X-Men characters and Clea. However, in this film, Wanda is a villain being controlled by The Darkhold. She will cause a rampage in different universes finding her kids from Wandavision, Tommy, and Billy.

Theory also explains that Wanda will be traveling through a universe where the X-Men originally existed and she will continue on slaughtering that universe. Strange together with Wong and Chavez will stop Wanda, together with the X-Men superheroes on that universe. And the reason why the sequel is titled ‘Multiverse of Madness’ is that in the end, Wanda will be causing mayhem totally messing with the Multiverse, and will be merging the X-Men together with the MCU. So instead of doing the ‘No More Mutants’ story in the Comics, she will do the opposite and bring them to the MCU instead. Which will set up for the following Multiverse exploration of films like Ant-Man and the Quantumania.

While this is just a theory, the rights for X-Men were finally obtained by Disney last 2019 so it's safe to assume that the MCU can soon introduce iconic X-Men characters like Wolverine, Jean Grey, and Magnetto.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will premiere in theaters on May 4.
