Before the investigators could catch the parasites utilizing an abandoned chapel as their meeting place, the herd managed to escape.

Parasyte: The Grey episode 3 revealed that it was Won-Seok who personally took care of their hideout.

Won-Seok's loyalty is questionable because he was not a parasite yet when he joined them. However, even so, the seeming leader of the parasites entrusted him with a blade that is similar to that of their tentacles.

One of the reasons Won-Seok offered himself was because he felt superior in being their sole "hope" of mingling among the human race without being detected, under his protection.

Another was revealed in episode 4 when he told off his own boss that they were underpaid and overworked detectives.

That said, Won-Seok looked up to the parasites better due to their more rational nature, plus, they see his value more in the work he has done for them.

The parasites initially believed that Won-Seok would be of use to keeping their race safe until they could take over the world without being detected as frauds.

However, they still only prioritized their kind over someone like him. Despite Won-Seok proving his loyalty and significance to the parasites, they still infiltrated his brain and killed him in the end.

Unfortunately, Won-Seok and his body didn't last long enough for parasites to take advantage of him.
