Why CD Projekt Red Won't Be Working On The Witcher 4 Anytime Soon

As gamers wait for Cyberpunk 2077, they are also hoping to continue Geralt's adventures in a future installment of The Witcher. CD Projekt Red helped make the trilogy one of the best RPG series' in gaming history and fans would love to play another Witcher game. Unfortunately, despite being in Soul Calibur VI, we won't be seeing any solo adventures from Geralt anytime soon.

During the Pareto Securities' Gaming Seminar (via Game Rant), CD Projekt Red's Adam Kicinski stated that they won't be making a new Witcher game anytime soon. Apparently, the developers really intended to make it a trilogy, even though the ending of Witcher 3 left Geralt's world open for new adventures.

While Kicinski didn't completely write off a new installment in the series, the developers are too focused on Cyberpunk 2077 right now.

"We can't create Witcher 4 because that was a trilogy from the beginning. No one said that one day we won't decide to develop something in the Witcher universe, but now we're focusing on Cyberpunk and Gwent."

Neither Cyberpunk 2077 nor Soul Calibur VI have a clear release date, though the latter is slated to come out this year. Fans who haven't experienced Geralt's adventure yet can get The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt right now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with a Game of the Year edition also available for purchase, which adds all of the DLC.
