Why Adam Warlock Was Cut From Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War has to be the most exciting film coming out this week and it's easy to see why. Featuring a massive team-up between The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man as they take on Thanos and his Black Order. However, there were characters who were originally planned to appear and were cut for a smoother experience.

Unfortunately, Adam Warlock was one of them.

When asked why Warlock was joining Death and Captain Marvel in the unused section, the film's writers, Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, told ET the most logical reason; there are already too many characters. The poster has 23 heroes and that isn't including The Black Order and others who will be having supporting roles.

"Well, there are some in the original Infinity Gauntlet series that are-- Like, we didn't introduce Adam Warlock, because it's a massive backbend and you practically have to make an Adam Warlock movie to introduce him. He just can't walk onscreen. So, there was a brief moment where we were like, Ehhh..., and then we were like-- [He points to the movie's poster.] We have that many characters already! And then there were others we couldn't use. Like, Silver Surfer would have been useful, but we can't touch him. Currently."

It's hard not to agree with the writers since Adam Warlock has only been teased in the ending of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. As far as we're concerned, he's still in a cocoon and won't start appearing in the MCU anytime soon. Like the writers mentioned, we'll probably need a solo film starring Warlock before he can be a bigger part of the MCU.

For those unaware, Warlock is a huge part of Thanos' story. The two have been enemies for the longest time, though they've also teamed up for the betterment of the universe. Like Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in the WWE, these two cosmic characters are destined to fight forever.

Avengers: Infinity War comes out on April 27.
