About Tuxedo Mask
Tuxedo Mask is a young masked man Usagi encounters early on in her journey as Sailor Moon.
Like the Sailor Senshi, he transforms to take this powerful form that allows him to battle evil alongside Usagi, helping her when she's in trouble.
Until almost halfway through, Usagi doesn't know Tuxedo Mask's identity.
Who Is Tuxedo Mask?
Tuxedo Mask is revealed to be Mamoru Chiba, Usagi's love interest. Later on, we also find out that he's a reincarnation of Prince Endymion - the love interest of Princess Serenity, of whom Usagi is an incarnation.
This revelation and overall plotline might have been considered a bit over the top were the story created today. It did, however, make sense in-universe at the time, as this is a magical story that spans beyond this earth and your typical urban fantasy anime.
While Mamoru occasionally saves the date as Tuxedo Mask, he's the character that most often gets kidnapped by the bad guys. This was to showcase the power and agency of the show's female characters which made the show pretty progressive for its time.

When Is Tuxedo Mask's Identity Revealed?
If you are looking to watch (or rewatch) the big revelation, Usagi finds out about Tuxedo Mask's identity as Mamoru in episode 81 of the original anime, which is the end of Sailor Moon R.
For those interested in the remake, Sailor Moon Crystal, the revelation takes place in episode 25 (known as Act 25) as the newest series doesn't have as many filler episodes.
