The Lord of the Rings: The War of Rohirrim is coming into one of the most popular fantasy film franchises in the world after almost two decades from the last film of Peter Jackson and it will be taking us to 250 years before the trilogy ever started. As announced in a joint statement by Chief Operating Officer of Warner Bros. Carolyn Blakwood and New Line Cinema President Richard Brenner, the film will be animated and its director would be Kenji Kamiyama.

Kenji Kamiyama is a Japanese anime director known for his works Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex anime television series, Blade Runner: Black Lotus,Guardian of the Sacred Spirit TV series, and Eden of the East. His works are critically acclaimed in anime. In one interview with Otaquest, he shared about his previous project,

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, wherein he talked about how he visualizes a concept to have a "much stronger presence worldwide" and how he reconciled having one concept for the various generations that would be seeing his creation.

With a veteran anime director like Kenji Kamiyama calling the shots in the first animated film in The Lord of the Rings franchise, the worldwide presence would definitely be stronger as it is expected that he could introduce some anime elements and apply his knowledge and experience in Japanese anime series and films into the movie.

His touch on the new film of the franchise will surely be an epic addition as the film would be telling the journey of the legendary battle setting up Middle-earth and 250 years prior the events in the original trilogy focusing on the backstory of Helm's Deep.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of Rohirrim will also be based on the books of J.R.R. Tolkien and many fans are wondering whether there would be a film adaptation for his other famous books such as The Silmarillon.

Recently, Amazon revealed that they would also be taking in the title for a series which has the fans both thrilled and curious as to how they would turn the epic story into a TV show and when the release date of it would be.

While there is no release date yet for The Lord of the Rings: The War of Rohirrim, this could be the perfect time for you to revisit or watch the whole series of three films on these streaming platforms and binge-watch it all.
