As with any other fantasy series, there will always be some character deaths – whether those in major or minor roles. With magic involved and battles taking place, deaths are inevitable, but there are also those who make it out alive. Here’s who dies and who survives in The Wheel of Time Season 2:

Did Nynaeve Die in The Wheel of Time Season 2?

Nynaeve does not die in The Wheel of Time Season 2. In Season 2, Nynaeve goes through the test to become Accepted. One would have to pass through the three arches that would show a candidate’s greatest fears.

Nynaeve was declared dead by the Aes Sedai after it appeared that she was lost in the Arches and gone for good. Egwene refuses to believe that Nynaeve is gone and attempts to open the Arches.

Elayne explains that in 3,000 years, there have been over a hundred attempts to bring back a lost friend or lover, but it never works. However, in the Arches, Nynaeve manages to channel (something believed to be impossible), which then opens a second portal back.

Does Rand Die in The Wheel of Time Season 2?

Rand does not die in The Wheel of Time Season 2. Ishamael is confident that Mat will kill Rand using the cursed dagger. In the finale, Mat does end up wounding Rand, unintentionally, but Rand does not die.

When Ishamael attempts to kill Rand, Egwene protects him. Perrin arrives to lend her strength too. Elayne heals Rand’s wound, and later on, Rand kills Ishamael.

The Wheel of Time Season 2: Ishamael’s Death’s Explained

Ishamael, the Dark One’s strongest lieutenant and the leader of the Forsaken, dies in The Wheel of Time Season 2 finale.

Throughout Season 2, we see Ishamael recruiting allies and working to turn Rand to the dark side. He attempts to kill Rand in the finale, thinking that he would have to wait until his next life for Rand to turn to the Dark.

But Ishamael doesn’t succeed as Rand manages to kill him. In his final moments, Ishamael smiles and says “It’s beautiful.” He then asks, “Do you see it, Lews?”

When Rand asks what he sees, Ishamael responds, “Nothing. Nothing at all.” Ishamael then turns to dust.

The Seanchan’s Defeat in The Wheel of Time Season 2

The Seanchan are among the long list of villains in The Wheel of Time Season 2. They believe that it is their destiny to conquer the world.

High Lord Turak, a Seanchan nobleman, doesn’t survive in the Season 2 finale as he is effortlessly killed by the Dragon Reborn.

Renna, Egwene’s sul'dam, also dies in The Wheel of Time Season 2 finale as she is killed by Egwene.

Additionally, Ishamael instructs High Lady Suroth to take her best damane and board them on a ship directly below the Tower where they have a clear line of sight.

The damane at sea were shielding Rand from using the One Power. However, Moiraine, using her powers, blows up the Seanchan fleet.

Other characters who don’t survive in The Wheel of Time Season 2 finale include Ingtar, Geofram Bornhald (Dain’s father), and Hopper the wolf.

The Seanchan may have been defeated and the leader of the Forsaken may have died, but the Season 2 finale shows that the war is not over. More of the Forsaken are coming, and we've already seen one of them: Moghedien.

The Black Ajah still remains a threat too. It’s clear that there are many things in store for us in The Wheel of Time Season 3.
