It has been nearly two years since it premiered, and now, Ya Boy Kongming! is coming to cinemas. With the film’s upcoming Japanese release, fans are wondering if the Ya Boy Kongming Road to Summer Sonia film will be available to watch in the US.
It might not be a new season as Road to Summer Sonia is simply a compilation film release of the TV anime, but it should still be exciting for fans. After all, it will feature a new live scene.
Ya Boy Kongming Road to Summer Sonia: Release Date and All You Need to Know
P.A. Works’ Ya Boy Kongming premiered back in the summer 2022 season. While that season was dominated by Spy x Family, Kongming got just as much attention thanks to its incredibly catchy opening.
Since the anime ended, it has not been renewed for a new season. On the flip side, it did get a Japanese live-action adaptation. Plus, it was also revealed that a compilation film will be released.
Titled Ya Boy Kongming Road to Summer Sonia, this will be a condensed version of the 12-episode anime, albeit with a new live scene featuring Eiko Tsukimi.
It’s not clear what this live scene will be, but it will likely be a new performance from Eiko. After all, the anime recently released a cover of Atarashii Gakko!’s Otona Blue performed by Eiko.
What’s clear is that the Ya Boy Kongming compilation film is premiering in Japanese cinemas on March 1, 2024.

Will the Ya Boy Kongming Road to Summer Sonia Film Be Available to Watch in the US?
For now, there’s no word yet on an international release for this compilation film outside of Japan. This means fans in the US and other countries won’t be able to watch it anytime soon.
Anime films have become quite common to see in US cinemas, with the likes of Demon Slayer being big box office draws. Still, it’s rare for compilation anime films to get wide US theatrical runs.
Because of this, the chances of Road to Summer Sonia being available to watch in US cinemas aren’t high.
Of course, there’s a chance that this will be released on streaming platforms given that there’s a new scene included.
As the TV anime is available on HIDIVE, chances are that if the compilation film will be available on streaming, it will be on HIDIVE in the US.
