What is Hexed Really All About?
Hexed follows the awkward teen Billie as she discovers her magical abilities while being bullied at school and considered a problem by her principal. However, being unfamiliar with her powers, she initially loses control and sets off chaotic chain reactions, which eventually result in her being expelled from school.
But while she’s feeling lost, she ends up entering the hidden magical realm of Hexe, full of witches, enchanted creatures, and impossible wonders.
As Billie begins a colorful, fast-paced adventure, she’s about to discover long-buried secrets tied to her family’s past.
Director Fawn Veerasunthorn said about the film (via People):
- “A wonderfully strange phenomenon is happening all around Billie, something she can’t explain. She’s someone who has felt miscast in her own life, and it takes leaving her normal world behind and entering a hidden world of wild, unhinged magic to begin to understand herself.”
Fellow director Jason Hand added:
- “Hexe is a place where Billie begins to feel seen for the first time in her life. She embarks on a journey of self-discovery that reveals a powerful connection to magic, and in the process uncovers long-held secrets about her family.”
Hexed also stars Rashida Jones, Tracey Ullman, and Stephen Fry and is Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 65th animated feature.
