Urushi Yaotome, his senpai and the club's only other member, is glad to finally have a shogi partner and endeavors to teach him all she knows.
Urushi is aware of Ayumu's crush on her and tries to get a confession out of him. For his part, Ayumu has resolved not to confess until he can beat her in a game of shogi.
Episode 2 of the school romance anime unfolded during the sports festival - a fun but also competitive time for the characters.
