It's official! Hacks has been renewed for another season. HBO Max has ordered the acclaimed comedy to return. This means we'll get to see more of Deborah Vance (played by Jean Smart) and Ava Daniels (played by Hannah Einbinder) on our TV screens.

So what will the unlikely pair be up to in the third season? Here's what we know about the show so far.

Hacks Season 3 Release Date

Hacks has officially been renewed for a third season. This was revealed via HBO Max's official Twitter account on June 16, 2022. HBO Max's Head of Original Content, Sarah Aubrey, said: “We congratulate Hacks‘ extraordinarily gifted executive producers and cast, and our partners at Universal Television. We are overjoyed at the audience and press response to the new season, and glad to give viewers more of this gorgeous, hilarious, moving show.”

Unfortunately, HBO Max did not give a release date. It's possible that the show will follow its two previous seasons, which were released in May with a year apart between them. With this, it's possible that the show could be released in May 2023.

When Hacks Season 2 ended, it did not give us any cliffhanger ending that other shows typically do. And this is quite normal for shows to make room for a succeeding season. Hacks, on the other hand, gave us a wholesome ending-- with the two heroines achieving their dreams.

Hacks Season 3 will likely feature Ava as she takes the road on her own. That's because Deborah fired Ava with good intentions in mind. At the celebratory party, we saw Deborah tell Ava: "You need to make space for your own work. You're just like me. You've got your own mountain to climb."

There was a bit of momentary panic as Deborah told Ava "Oh, you'll see me… in court!" She was supposed to sue Ava for NDA violation despite the bond the two have formed. But later in the show, we see Ava getting a call from Jimmy, who gives her the good news: Deborah is dropping the lawsuit and she just landed a job on a new series.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, co-creator and co-star Paul W. Downs said: "We feel like this is only the second chapter in a larger story that we want to tell. And when we pitched the show, we actually pitched where the series would end, which is not what you saw in episode 8 of season 2."

Co-creator Lucia Aniello told Decider, "We do have an idea of how many seasons, but I don't know if we know for sure. The truth is, and we've said this before and I think we've told you this, we know how we want the story to end. Exactly how many seasons that is to tell that story, I think we're still a little bit open-ended on, but we do know how we want it to end. So for us, we are just in a chapter of a larger story at this point."

The question now is, how will Deborah and Ava's paths cross once again?
