What the Deadpool Writers Said About Ryan Reynolds Doing a Logan Cameo

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are close friends, and future Deadpool films crossing over with Wolverine have already been announced as a possibility. But fans hoping that the Merc with a Mouth will appear in a cameo in the upcoming Logan movie will be sorely disappointed. Paul Wernick and Rhette Reese, the writers behind Deadpool 2, have definitely nixed the idea, saying that the deadpan humor and awesome wisecrackery of Deadpool wouldn't just fit comfortably with the more solemn, melancholic tone of Wolverine's swan song.

In a report by We Got This Covered, Rheese was very vocal about their reasons:

"Yeah, that's not happening.. he tones are just too different. I'm not sure exactly where that rumor came from, but Hugh and Ryan are really close and they really do want to work together and they really do want to see these characters come together, so in the long run, that rumor could become true — that they're in a movie together, but it's just not ‘Logan.' And no, not even an end credit scene."

Both writers and Jackman himself said that they still would love to see the two anti-heroes pit wit, weaponry, and their sheer cussedness against each other in a brand new movie. But it just won't be happening in James Mangold's flick. The only superpowered beings that Logan will be bonding with are Professor X, X-23, and Caliban. And looks like that's how it will stay. For now.
