McDonald’s has long been a fixture in anime, whether officially or unofficially. Soon, the fast-food giant is getting a new official collab, this time, it’s a McDonald’s and studio Pierrot anime crossover.
This unexpected crossover was announced via a new teaser, which shows off new clips from what seems to be an original anime. There, details were teased, but a full reveal will come in a few days.
While a collaboration with Pierrot was something that pretty much every fan didn’t think would happen, it’s not too surprising given the history of McDonald’s and anime.
McDonald’s Surprising Anime Collab History
McDonald’s is one of the most well-known brands globally. In fact, it has appeared in many anime, whether it’s official product placement in Makoto Shinkai movies or as the fake WcDonald’s in various shows over the decades.
Aside from appearing in anime, McDonald’s has also collaborated with many anime shows and films for special meals. For instance, there was the McDonald’s and One Piece collab last year.
Most of these collabs are Japan-exclusive, though the fast-food giant had a collab in the US that featured popular films and series that featured the brand. Among these is the popular The Devil is a Part-Timer! anime.
McDonald’s Reveals Studio Pierrot Anime Collab with New Teaser
Now, McDonald’s has another collab, and this time, it’s with Pierrot, the studio behind popular shows like Naruto, Bleach, Black Clover, and many more.
The collab was revealed via a teaser shared on the McDonald’s X (formerly Twitter) account. It features colorful clips of what seems to be an original anime. You can check it out here:
This teaser is only 15 seconds long, meaning it doesn’t give much away. What we can say for certain is that Pierrot has likely been tapped to produce an anime short, possibly as a new advertisement.
An ad might not be the only thing here, as there might also be a special menu item or more.

McDonald’s x Studio Pierrot Collab: Release Date, Merch
At the bottom of the teaser, the words “At Participating McDonald’s for a Limited Time” are flashed, indicating that there will be an in-store component for this collab.
What’s even more surprising is that the collab is happening in the US, as the video was teased on the main McDonald’s X account.
Given this, there’s a chance the collab will feature an animated short coupled with a new menu item or meal set. There may even be merch in the form of Happy Meal toys or apparel.
Thankfully, the wait won’t be long, as more info on the collab will be revealed next week on February 26, 2024.
