Hunter x Hunter is a shonen manga series written by Togashi Yoshihiro. The story follows Gon Freecss, a 12-year-old boy who aims to find his father, Ging, and become a Hunter like him.

In this world, Hunters are special licensed people who possess exceptional abilities. They can be hired for different things — defeating monsters, searching for treasure, or guarding high-profile individuals.

The first anime adaptation aired in 1999 with a total of 62 episodes. Its studio, Nippon Animation, released three OVAs that covered the Greed Island arc.

The second anime adaptation by Madhouse ran from 2011 to 2014 with a total of 148 episodes.
