Mr. Robot Creator Reportedly Working on a Battlestar Galactica Reboot

It looks like reboot culture continues to go strong in the year 2019 since we are going to be seeing a Battlestar Galactica reboot in the near future. This is a big franchise with numerous tie-in material so the news should be big for sci-fi fans but it gets much more interesting. In a report from Deadline, it was confirmed that Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail will be involved as the showrunner for this Battlestar Galactica reboot.

The reboot is currently planned for NBC Universal's upcoming streaming service, which will be called Peacock and should have immature 12-year-olds snickering. Not much is known about the upcoming reboot but Esmail is reportedly a huge fan of the original franchise, which is good to know.

Fans who might be worried about Esmail's involvement really shouldn't since Mr. Robot proved that he could handle a variety of genres and tropes, somehow making them feel fresh and fun again. There's also the fact that Mr. Robot is one of the very best shows on television right now, so fans of the sci-fi franchise really have nothing to worry about.

While I'm not too well-versed in the lore of Battlestar Galactica, this reboot does seem like an interesting way to get new fans. Since Esmail is a huge fan of the original series, expect him to pay tribute and lay the groundwork for plenty of fanservice. After all, if there are no nostalgic easter eggs, it's a bad show (just kidding).

No release date for the Battlestar Galactica reboot has been announced yet.
