This holiday season will see the release of Robert Zemeckis' Welcome to Marwen, and the film was set to release sometime late November. As it turns out, the movie has been pushed back almost a full month.

We've been informed that Welcome to Marwen has been pushed from its original Nov. 21 release date to Friday, Dec. 21. No reason has been given for the full month delay, but the new release does put Marwen head to head with DCEU's Aquaman, which is set to come out on the same day as well.

Here's the official synopsis for the film:

When a devastating attack shatters Mark Hogancamp (Carell) and wipes away all memories, no one expected recovery. Putting together pieces from his old and new life, Mark meticulously creates a wondrous town where he can heal and be heroic. As he builds an astonishing art installation—a testament to the most powerful women he knows—through his fantasy world, he draws strength to triumph in the real one.

Zemeckis is one hell of a respected director, and the trailer for Welcome to Marwen presents us with a very unique story of recovery and friendship. Steve Carell may have been known for playing the fool in The Office, but he's certainly proven himself as a very serious actor over the years.

Catch Welcome to Marwen in theaters Dec. 21.
