WB Refused To Delay Justice League Release So That Executives Could Keep Their Bonuses

Warner Bros. encountered quite a number of problems during the production of Justice League, however, instead of putting off the release date of the DC Extended Universe installment so that it could give the team some time to deal with the project's issues, the studio kept to the film's original release date. Now, new reports reveal that this just might be because of studio executive's desire to preserve their bonuses which were set for this year.

According to The Wrap, WB president Toby Emmerich and CEO Kevin Tsujihara disregarded the need to push Justice League's release date because they were motivated to preserve their bonuses that were set for payment before Time Warner's merger with AT&T.

Justice League's delay would mean pushing back the bonuses to 2018, and the executives were afraid that "they might not still be at the studio" during that time.

However, the report also says that another studio insider told the publication that there were also bonuses awarded for good decision-making, so the executives would still gain something if rescheduling Justice League proved to be beneficial to the company.

This new development helps explain the reason why Justice League didn't work out as well as everyone hoped it would. One of the major issues that fans have with the superhero team-up movie is that it feels like the studio meddled a lot in the creative direction of the movie, despite assurances from everyone that the studio would keep to director Zack Snyder's vision. It's pretty clear that Warner Bros. rushed the film's development, resulting in a seemingly underwhelming DCEU installment.

Justice League is currently screening in cinemas.
