Watchmen Showrunner Would Like to Work on Star Wars 'A Decade from Now'

Star Wars has always managed to nab top talent when it comes to their collaborators, and after a successful run with Watchmen last year, a lot of people are wondering if Damon Lindelof would ever want to join a galaxy far far away. What's great is, he already does, but he doesn't want to jump in on the franchise now.

Talking to Fandom, Lindelof had expressed his interest on working in the MCU, and he continued, "… I feel like I would love to do something in the Star Wars universe. Maybe a decade from now when I would no longer be blamed for ruining it. That would be a hoot."

Though The Rise of Skywalker was a major tumble for Lucasfilm, there is still a lot of praise going toward the Disney+ TV show, The Mandalorian. Though it would be fun to watch Lindelof direct one episode, I would very much like him to actually handle his own show. With Cassian Andor and Obi-Wan on the way, I'm hoping Lindelof has a fun series in mind; something that won't be so by the numbers and will add a bit more spice to the world of Star Wars. Again, his major concern is dealing with the toxic fandom, that's why he would rather work on Star Wars 'a decade from now.'

As far as movies go, the next big-screen release is set to come out in 2022. We don't know who's behind the helm yet, but Lucasfilm has apparently found someone already. Personally I just want Rian Johnson to get started on his trilogy, but I guess he should take his time, granted how terrible a part of the fandom has been acting toward him.

For now, the second season of The Mandalorian is set to hit Disney+ this October. Watch Lindelof's Watchmen on HBO.
