A lot of fans loved Michael B. Jordan's performance as Erik Killmonger, and many considered his character to be one of the best villains since The Joker from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. In the latest video by Lessons From Screenplay, we learn what makes Killmonger such an effective villain.
The video compares The Joker and Killmonger and explains that both antagonists force the protagonist to change. He has a perspective than the audience can empathize with. The video quotes writer Joe Robert Cole, who says:
Killmonger is described as the "embodiment of flaws in the protagonist's beliefs."
I'm a fan of Killmonger's character and motivations but not a fan of his powers. Just like other Marvel villains, his abilities are just like Black Panther's but what makes him a great villain is his beliefs and how it challenges the hero's perspective.
