Watch The Explosive New Doctor Who Series 11 Trailer

The new trailer for Doctor Who Series 11 is here and it looks like Jodie Whittaker's take on the Time Lord is determined to fix the world.

The full trailer opens with the Doctor (Whittaker) announcing that she is here to make things right. "I'm the Doctor. When people need help, I NEVER refuse," she declares. It's also great to see that her companions Yaz (Mandip Gill), Ryan (Tosin Cole), and Graham (Bradley Walsh) know who's the boss. When someone challenges the Doctor's authority, they quickly jump up to her defense.

It's a fun trailer with plenty of running while waving a sonic screwdriver. There's a fleeting look at the companions being chased by a giant spider that could be an episode to look forward to.

The video does take a slower pace in the latter half as the teaser switches to the Macklemore song Glorious. Nevertheless, it's great to see the tender side of the Doctor as she proclaims, "I'm just a traveler." Whittaker's Time Lord also displays an endearing vulnerability. "Sometimes I see things need fixing, I do what I can," she says.

Whittaker is certainly a promising new take on the Doctor and the trailer proves just why. Although the Time Lord has no problem with getting into the action, she also has a softer side when it comes to her new friends. Needless to say, we can't wait until Doctor Who Series 11 finally airs this October.

Series 11 will be Chris Chibnall's first season as head writer and executive producer after Steven Moffat's departure. Chibnall has previously worked with Whittaker on the drama Broadchurch. Although it is too early to say if the new season will be better than Moffat's run, there is little doubt that Whittaker has already won fans over with her own version of the Doctor.

The first episode of Doctor Who Series 11 is titled The Woman Who Fell to Earth. The show will return on BBC on October 7.
