Watch the Amazing Second Trailer for Alita: Battle Angel

James Cameron is doing more than just working on his Avatar sequels. Besides producing Terminator 6, he's also working on an adaptation of Battle Angel Alita with Robert Rodriguez. It's been a while since the first trailer was dropped, but now we have an amazing second preview.

Here's the official description:

From visionary filmmakers James Cameron (AVATAR) and Robert Rodriguez (SIN CITY), comes ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL, an epic adventure of hope and empowerment. When Alita (Rosa Salazar) awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious history while her street-smart new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) offers instead to help trigger her memories. But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers a clue to her past – she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control. If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world she's grown to love.

The movie was initially slammed for having a weird-looking protagonist, but I think it's actually impressive that they tried to make her look close to the original manga appearance. They even found a way for her to have the face paint which I think looks cool.

Just in case you didn't know, the film is actually based on a manga from Yukito Kishiro called Battle Angel Alita. Besides Christoph Waltz, the film also has a cast that includes Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, and Jackie Earle Haley.

Though the initial trailer had minimal CGI, this one boasts a lot more special effects. Seeing that it's a Robert Rodriguez movie, I'm expecting the film to end up a bit campy. Then again, he could be aiming for a different tone overall.

Catch Alita: Battle Angel when it hits theaters Dec. 21.
