Fresh off D23, we got a new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker teaser trailer and it is glorious. Some would even argue that it's better than the entirety of The Last Jedi but let's not get crazy. It manages to keep the formula of giving us intriguing new imagery without context and that is, once again, put to good use here. Rather than spoil the whole movie, we're given cool visuals to think about, like Rey possibly going to the dark side.
Yup, as our cover photo shows, it looks like the plucky young Jedi might be going to the dark side. We see her in some edgy-looking clothes and a nifty new lightsaber that can be turned into a double-edged lightsaber ala Darth Maul. She looks like the kind of person who can kill some younglings without remorse, which isn't always a good thing.
Keep in mind that this is just a teaser and this could be a vision that Rey herself will fight, similar to that time Luke Skywalker killed Darth Vader in a vision and unmasked it to see himself. We'll have to wait and see but this could be some of the best Star Wars imagery we've ever seen and should get hype for The Rise of Skywalker going big.
As a fan of The Last Jedi, this is everything I could ask for and more.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes out on December 20.
