Watch: Every Easter Egg and Reference in Shazam!

Shazam! has just released in theaters, and everyone is celebrating the return of the DCEU. Just like every other comic book movie before it, the film is littered with Easter Eggs and nods to what came before it. Thanks to Mr. Sunday Movies, we have a very thorough breakdown.

Admittedly I wasn't aware of who Mr. Mind was in the end of the film, but when it comes to the wackier world of Captain Marvel, I guess he fits right in as an alien worm who is going up against a kid superhero. I also thought it was neat that the film actually brought Superman in for a cameo—albeit I would be happier if Henry Cavill actually made an appearance.

What I thought was also great were the references to the 80s films. While I thought the scene with the giant piano was already an obvious nod to Big, I didn't think that the sins breaking out of the stone were actually ripped out of the original Ghostbusters.

Shazam! is still in the beginning of its run, but I'm sure it's going to have a great box office run. Besides the fun jokes, the movie actually has a lot of heart, and at the center is Billy Batson just trying to find out what it means to be part of a family.

With the success of this film, I'm hoping we get to see more of Shazam! in the future, and I'm also crossing my fingers that WB decides to revisit Justice League—complete with the likes of Superman, and the rest.

Catch Shazam! in theaters today.
