With Jordan Peele making his jump from comedy to surreal horror, he's now become the host of the revival of The Twilight Zone. The second season is set to debut this June, and we have a creepy new trailer showcasing all the new faces coming to the show.
Like Peele himself, this second season features a lot of comedy actors who are working outside of their genre. You have Community stars like Joel McHale and Gillian Jacobs, plus Reno 911's Thomas Lennon, Arrested Development's Tony Hale, and That 70s Show's Topher Grace. Of course, we also have some more ‘serious' actors in the mix like Sky Ferreria, Morena Baccarin, and Westworld's Jimmi Simpson.
Admittedly, the first season of the show was kind of a mixed bag, but it was definitely interesting and managed to get a second season greenlit. While I don't think every episode is perfect, it's still fun to watch these contained anthology films, and as a comedy fan it's also fascinating to watch a lot of these actors actually be in something dark and mysterious.
With Black Mirror kind of on hiatus because of the outbreak, fans are going to be looking for their dark anthology series fix. Let's just hope they can ‘stomach' a show about a bleak reality right now because that's Black Mirror showrunner Charlie Brooker thinks that's the last thing we need.
The Twilight Zone returns this coming June 25.
