Warner Brothers has just decided to move forward with its live-action adaptation of the popular manga and anime series Attack on Titan and it looks like the studio has decided that IT director Andy Muschietti would be the best man to lead the project.
Confirming the rumors that Warner Brothers has been looking to bag the movie rights to Attack on Titan, Variety writes that the studio has just finalized its deal with Kodansha, the publishing company that owns the rights to the original manga series by Hajime Isayama. Muschietti has already been tapped to direct the Attack on Titan live-action movie while IT producer Barbara Muschietti has also been brought on to produce the film together with Harry Potter's David Heyman and Mega Man's Masi Oka.
Of course, seeing how the project has just been recently greenlit, we can't really tell when Warner Brothers' plans to give the Attack on Titan live-action movie a production start date, however, fans do know that Muschietti is about to complete IT Chapter Two's principal photography, leaving room for more projects.
With IT Chapter Two scheduled for release September 2019, Attack on Titans fans can probably expect the live-action movie to begin production sometime next year.
For those reading who aren't familiar with Attack on Titan, the anime series and manga is set in a dark future where most of humanity has been wiped out by a mysterious species of human-eating giants called Titans. The original series revolved around the adventures of Eren Yeager, a teenager who vows to avenge his mother who was eaten by a Titan.
Warner Brothers' Attack on Titan movie doesn't have a release date just yet but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
