WandaVision to Reference Sitcoms ‘Up to Modern Family and The Office’

Ever since we got our first look at WandaVision, Marvel has made it clear that the series will pay homage to classic sitcoms like Bewitched and I Love Lucy. What's interesting is, it looks like the series will be referencing shows up to the modern sitcom.

Marvel head Kevin Feige tells Empire, "We go up to the Modern Family and The Office-style… The talk-to-the-camera, shaky-camera, documentary style." We don't really know when or how frequent the era jumps will be for the series, but it's interesting to think that we'll be watching an evolution of television while at the same time just figuring out what's happening with Wanda Maximoff and her powers.

Besides that, Empire Online has also given us some new stills from the show, including a colored image of Wanda and Vision from the black and white era that you can check out here.

Though Wanda was one of the most powerful adversaries of the Avengers in Age of Ultron, she has admittedly been underused ever since, being delegated to just moving things with her mind. With the franchise looking to be more experimental moving forward, Wanda looks to be taking center stage, with her own Disney+ series and appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Feige continues:

"If you look at the Infinity Saga, I don't think any single person has gone through more pain and trauma than Wanda Maximoff. And no character seems to be as powerful as Wanda Maximoff. And no character has a power-set that is as ill-defined and unexplored as Wanda Maximoff… "So it seemed exploring that would be worthwhile post-Endgame."

Catch WandaVision when it hits Disney+ on January 15, 2021.
