WandaVision Star Paul Bettany Says MCU Show Will Span 5 Decades

WandaVision might only have six episodes but it looks like each of those episodes will be packed with a lot of interesting events. Paul Bettany has just confirmed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe series will be set across over five decades.

Bettany recently spoke to Collider where he revealed a little bit about the Disney+ show's confusing sitcom timeline.

"It's '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s and all of it," Bettany said. "We end up in the MCU, in the real world."

This should explain why Vision and Wanda Maximoff appear to be on different TV shows in the teaser. However, Bettany explains that this is exactly what the studio wanted.

"If you think about it, what Kevin Feige has done is like a grand TV experiment anyway," he said. "It's sequels and spin-offs, in an episodic formula and spin-off formula, like you've had in television forever, just done on a grand scale in film. So, moving it to TV, I think they made a really smart decision, as an homage to lots of different eras and genres of the American centuries' TV."

Bettany went on to tease that each episode will slowly reveal everything in the end.

"As each episode unfolds, the audience will be able to peel back layer upon layer until this rather beautiful puzzle box written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman and shot by [cinematographer] Jess Hall will be revealed to everybody and it will make sense," he said. "All of the bonkers stuff will be about something."

That's certainly enough to get us excited about WandaVision. Hopefully, we'll get to see another teaser for the series soon.

WandaVision will premiere on Disney+ on January 15, 2021.
