Marvel Cinematic Universe fans tuned in to their television sets to witness the 73rd edition of the Primetime Emmys in support of Marvel Studios' groundbreaking offering WandaVision, which collected a whopping 23 nominations. Ahead of Sunday's awarding spectacle, the Phase Four spinoff series was on quite a roll after winning awards at the Creative Art Emmys, including Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes, Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, and Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Program.

However, it wasn't a good night for the MCU series after it failed to snag any award from the ceremony. For starters, WandaVision lost its bet for Outstanding Limited Or Anthology Series, Lead Actor In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie, Supporting Actress In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie, Directing For A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie, and Writing For A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie.

Lead star Elizabeth Olsen is one of the nominees for the Best Actress category, something that can be considered a first not only for Marvel but for the actress as well. Of course, MCU diehards had high hopes that the 32-year-old actress would take home the award but unfortunately, WandaVision failed to score any of the major categories, including the Best Actress award which Kate Winslet won.

Fans couldn't believe that the series came up short after all of the hype it delivered earlier this year. Unsurprisingly, they took to social media to air their disappointment at the Emmys for "snubbing" WandaVision and Olsen who they thought deserved to get the nod. I gotta be honest, it was a tough battle for Olsen considering she's going up against the industry's biggest and brightest names. And being a comic book/superhero show, WandaVision had a distinct disadvantage heading into the ceremony when you think about it. Still, there's nothing to be ashamed of because being recognized by the Emmys as one of this year's finest projects is something to be proud of, especially for Marvel.

WandaVision is streaming exclusively on Disney+.
