Wall Street Analyst Says Disney And Comcast Should Just Split Fox’s Assets

The bidding war between Disney and Comcast over 21st Century Fox's television and film assets has begun to heat up. Now, as Comcast takes a more aggressive stance after giving Fox it's counteroffer, a Wall Street analyst proposes a more "sensible outcome" for both the Comcast Corporation and The Walt Disney Company.

CNBC just recently wrote a report gathering opinions from analysts scrutinizing whether or not the Mickey Mouse House would be able to close its deal with Fox to acquire the company's key assets. After Federal Judge Leon made the ruling that approved the AT&T merger with Time Warner yesterday, Comcast decided to come up and offer Fox a $65 billion all-cash offer – a deal considered much better than Disney's $52.4 billion all-stock deal.

With Comcast's new move in mind, Fox has started considering whether it should cancel or postpone the July 10 board meeting it had planned for shareholders to vote on the Disney acquisition which had already been prepared for financing.

Now, according to B. Riley Barton, Disney is expected to match Comcast's counteroffer by adding some cash to its deal while its rival would try and throw in some stock to appease Fox president Rupert Murdoch's concerns about tax. According to Barton, this back and forth would raise the deal bid.

"Barring a third entrant (Internet/tech is possible), we would see the most sensible outcome as splitting the baby, with Comcast getting Sky (which we see as its main goal) and Disney getting most of the rest."

Though this might seem like a sensible plan, a lot of Marvel fans are looking forward to Disney acquiring all of Fox's offered assets. Though a few really care about the Mickey Mouse House getting any bigger than it already is, Marvel fans are hoping the Disney and Fox merger would mean the appearance of the X-Men, Fantastic Four and other Fox-owned mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

For now, everything is largely unsure. Let's cross our fingers and wait and see.
