Virtual Console Might Be Coming to Nintendo Switch After All

Fans were heartbroken when Nintendo revealed that the Nintendo Switch would not have the Virtual Console from the Wii U, which had games from the NES, SNES, N64, and more. The company did add NES games to the recently released Nintendo Switch Online service. Thanks to some data mining from fans, it looks like the Virtual Console will be coming back to the new system.

As fans can see, some Virtual Console data has been spotted and it looks to support SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, and Nintendo DS titles. The only thing missing are Gamecube games, which fans are hoping to see since the company is planning to release Gamecube controllers for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Say what you will about the Wii or Wii U, but they had great Virtual Console support that kept fans coming back. Granted, the Wii's online service was recently cut, but the Wii U's is still going strong and had plenty of games from the aforementioned consoles. Funnily enough, the Wii U probably has more Virtual Console games than any mainstream titles, which is kind of sad.

It would be great seeing more of these classic titles for the Switch, though it would be a bit disappointing to see these tied to the Switch Online service. We can probably expect them to be given a paid purchase option for those that don't have the service, which isn't bad to have. As long as everyone has access to these games, this shouldn't be a problem.

No official confirmation has been given from Nintendo, so fans may want to take this with a grain of salt. Still, if the data did come from the Switch, there is some possibility that this will come true. Fans can get the Nintendo Switch and try out its online service right now.
