The mid-credits scene of Echo gave us a hint on what's next for Vincent D'Onofrio in the MCU as they teased Kingpin's ambitious next step when we see him again in the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again.
While his fight against Maya Lopez did not end with a triumph, the stinger suggested that Kingpin is now eyeing to become the next Mayor of New York City, where he also rules as the crime lord, as his next major step.
There have been rumors for a while that Marvel Studios is planning to introduce a political storyline for Kingpin in his future MCU appearances and now we finally have the confirmation thanks to Echo's mid-credits scene tease.

Vincent D'Onofrio Discusses Kingpin's Political Storyline in Daredevil: Born Again
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Vincent D'Onofrio opened up about Kingpin's upcoming political storyline in Daredevil: Born Again and addressed whether the character has changed following the events of Echo.
"I want to do the right thing here and say something that is true, but not too revealing. I don’t think he’s changed; I think he’s enlightened. I haven’t seen a lot of the episodes of Echo," he said.
"So, in my mind, after everything goes down with Maya, he gets on a plane, and the news is playing on the plane. It says, 'New York is going to be looking for a new mayor soon,' and as he’s watching it, a light bulb goes on."
The actor concluded his tease, "So, by the end of that flight, he decides, 'If I want to be all powerful, this is what I’m going to do.' That’s the most I can tell you."
There is no doubt that having Kingpin become a mayoral candidate in New York City will be a bigger step for the character and, at the same time, pose a threat to the heroes that are based in the area such as Daredevil and even Spider-Man.
It is interesting to see what kind of direction they will go with the character's mayoral run in the upcoming series and its implications for the street-level corner of the MCU if the campaign becomes successful.
