A lot of people were a bit unsure about the animation method for Netflix's The Dragon Prince, since they were expecting something along the lines of Avatar: The Last Airbender. As it turns out, there's an explanation on why it's animated that way—it's supposed to tie in for a video game.
Talking to IGN, The Dragon Prince co-creators Aaron Ehasz and Justin Richmond explain that they are actually working on a game that is set in the same universe. Richmond says:
"Yes, we're working on a game—we're not allowed to talk about it yet, but there's going to be a game set in the same universe as Dragon Prince."
It's worth noting that Richmond was the game director for Uncharted 3, and it's revealed that for the series and the upcoming game, the animators and game developers have been working closely to flesh the world out properly.
I don't really know what to expect from this story, but seeing that Avatar was such a great show, it's probably worth it to at least check out The Dragon Prince. One episode can't be that bad.
