VFX Artists Reveal A Neat Trick in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse That Everyone Missed

Corridor Crew on Youtube has come up with this great new series where VFX experts react to CGI in films, and their most recent ep where they take a look at Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. While a lot of people have agreed that the film is chock-full of surprises, CC was able to point out this neat technical detail that went over everyone’s heads.

The bit starts at 7:50:

As it turns out, Miles is rendered in a different frame rate as compared to Peter Parker. Since Miles is still a Spider-Man in training, he’s rendered at a lower frame rate of 12 while Peter is rendered at 24 frames; making Peter’s movements more natural and smooth, while Miles looks kind of off. By the end of the film when Miles becomes Spider-Man, he starts to be rendered at 24 frames, signifying that he’s finally full form.

It’s a neat technical detail, but it’s kind of cool how it also says something about the story.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse had some insane praise when it came out last December, and it’s undoubtedly one of the best Spider-Man ideas to come from Sony that isn’t in collaboration with Marvel. It’s said that multiple spinoffs and a sequel is already in the works, but nothing has been officially announced as of yet. Hopefully we get something at SDCC 2019.

For now, you can catch the live-action Spider-Man: Far from Home in theaters today.
