Venom and Guardians of the Galaxy Writer Pays for Everyone's Pull List in a Comic Shop

Just when you thought comic book writers can't be as good as the heroes they write for, Donnie Cates, the man who writes the critically acclaimed Venom for Marvel comics and has also had well-received runs on Thanos and Guardians of the Galaxy, proves us wrong. The writer did something really awesome for customers of Austin Books and Comics by paying for all of their pull lists.

That's right, if you had any comics under reservation in Austin Books and Comics, comic book writer Donnie Cates has paid for your issues. The retailer confirmed the news on its Facebook page. According to the post, the only catch Cates has requested is that you use your leftover money to go to The Center of Austin Fandom and try something new, whether it be a comic book, graphic novel, board game, or more.

It's a really cool move from Cates since comic book stores are one of the many businesses that are affected by the COVID-19 epidemic. We're all struggling right now and with the lack of big single-issue comic books coming out, we can only imagine how stores like these are struggling. Simply put, this virus has basically screwed everyone over and we wish things would get better.

Still, it's really cool seeing Donnie Cates be a stand-up guy so if you wanna do right by him, try checking out some of his stuff. We've already mentioned Venom, Thanos, and Guardians of the Galaxy but he also has indie comics to check out like Redneck and God Country.
