Venom 3 Officially Announced by Sony

The first two Venom films were a huge success at the box office so it is inevitable at this point to assume that they’ll be working on a third film, especially after Eddie Brock’s cameo appearance in the mid-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home which hinted that there is more to come for the character after going back to his own universe.

Per Variety, during their recent presentation at the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas, Sony announced that they are officially working on a third Venom film. However, they didn’t provide more information regarding the plot nor the cast and crew who are involved although we can safely assume that Tom Hardy will be returning to star and possibly co-write.

Besides the third Venom film, Sony also announced other upcoming films on their slate such as the fifth Ghostbusters film, The Equalizer 3, Kraven the Hunter, Madame Web, A Man Called Otto, Devotion, and the Whitney Houston biopic I Wanna Dance With Somebody. The studio also showed footage/sizzle reel during the presentation for some of their highly-anticipated films such as Bullet Train, The Woman King, When the Crawdads Sing, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

It is not surprising to hear that they are officially working on a third Venom film given the reception of Let There Be Carnage and the character is also considered the current headliner of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe franchise. While there are not many details yet, we can safely assume that the surviving characters will be returning. It would be interesting to find out if Andy Serkis will also come back as the director given the responses to his work on the second film.

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe franchise currently has a lot of projects on their upcoming slate such as Kraven the Hunter (which is currently filming), Madame Web (which is set to begin filming soon), and the recently-announced El Muerto with recording artist Bad Bunny attached to star.
