Despite the underwhelming success of Morbius, Sony is still moving forward with their Spider-Man franchise as they have a lot of upcoming films that are currently in the works for their future slate. However, it looks like we might have to wait a bit longer now before we get to see their next film.

According to Deadline, Sony has announced that they are moving the release date of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) from its original date of October 7 this year to June 2, 2023. As a result, Across the Spider-Verse (Part Two) is also moving its release date to March 29, 2024. The studio has also set the release date for Madame Web which will be on July 7, 2023.

There is no reason stated regarding why the Spider-Verse films were delayed although there are speculations that it could be production-related to give them more time to finish the film. As for Madame Web, it is the first release date that the studio set for the film after reports in the past several weeks regarding its casting. It is also widely believed that they are set to begin production this summer.

It is unfortunate to hear that the Spider-Verse films have been delayed since a lot of fans were anticipating its supposed release later this year. On the bright side, it is not a full-year delay so our waiting time was only extended for a little amount of time. Either way, we still can't wait to see them. It's also great to hear that we now have a release date for Madame Web next year as it is an official sign that they are moving forward with the project.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse follows "an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered." Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson are directing. Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, Jake Johnson, and Issa Rae are confirmed to be part of the cast.
