Venom 2: Some Scenes Were Changed Due to The Matrix Resurrections

Venom: Let There Be Carnage and The Matrix Resurrections are two distinct films that are very different from each other. The former is a Marvel film while the latter is a cyberpunk action. But as it turns out, the two films have a lot in common than we might think. In fact, thanks to Venom: Let There Be Carnage, we may have already seen a tiny portion of The Matrix Resurrections.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Venom: Let There Be Carnage location manager Christopher Kusiak revealed that there are scenes in the film that have to be changed since some of the locations that they were planning to use were already occupied by The Matrix Resurrections.

He said, "Lots of stuff impacted filming. A lot of our driving shots went away because Matrix controlled all of downtown… We ended up moving a stunt up onto the top of the parking garage because we couldn't get to the areas we wanted because of The Matrix. But if we would've been there first, it probably would've gone the other way."

In addition, he also revealed that the helicopters from The Matrix Resurrections can actually be seen in the final cut of Venom: Let There Be Carnage during one of its scenes. "The helicopters were actually on the Matrix movie. The Matrix was filming at the same time so we were catching part of their activity on camera," he said.

It is interesting to find out that those two distinct films were filmed in San Francisco at the same time and, as a result, a small chunk of The Matrix Resurrections became part of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. You don't hear stories like this quite often, but it is nonetheless great to hear because it is an example of a great behind-the-scenes story that the audience wouldn't know about.

This proves that filmmaking is indeed a challenging process. Sometimes, things don't go according to plan but, in the end, they'll find a way to make it all work in order to bring us entertainment. In this case, it gave us an "unofficial crossover" between the two films. Will we see a chunk of Venom: Let There Be Carnage in The Matrix Resurrections this time around? We'll find out soon.
