Venom 2 Has Found Its Lethal Director in Andy Serkis

Venom is a lethal protector so he needs a lethal director to tackle his sequel. It seems like Sony is aware of this since The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Mowgli director and Planet of the Apes star Andy Serkis will be helming Venom 2. This has to be Serkis' biggest project yet and fans of the first film will just be happy to know that a follow-up, which has to have Carnage, is definitely coming.

Serkis also confirmed the news on his Instagram, showing excitement for the role by showing off a copy of Venom: Lethal Protector #1. He teased that the symbiote is taking control of him and that should get fans pumped up since the actor/director is showing a lot of excitement for this big project.

Previously directed by Ruben Fleischer, the first Venom movie wasn't a hit with critics but it got a ton of love from audiences. The movie broke records and made a ton of money so it's easy to see why Venom 2 got greenlit so quickly. Hopefully, with Serkis now helming it, the movie gets a more positive critical response, though audiences might not care for that.

As of this writing, no release date for Venom 2 has been released. The first Venom movie is now available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and digital stores.
