Call of Duty fans have been eagerly awaiting the launch of the first season of Vanguard. But on November 19th, it was confirmed on Twitter that Season 1 won't now launch until December 8th. We'll take a look at why this decision may have been taken, and we'll give you some insight into what you can expect from Season 1 when it finally arrives. Here's what you need to know about Vanguard Season 1.

Vanguard Season 1 Delay Explained

As we mentioned above, Activision Blizzard has confirmed that it is delaying the release of Vanguard Season 1. The news was confirmed via that all-important news conduit, Twitter. Originally scheduled for release on December 1st, the launch has now been pushed back by a week. But the message on Twitter was extremely bare-bones, with little by way of explanation. So what do we know about the delay? Well...

There is actually very little by way of concrete information. But there is certainly some speculation going around. Arguably most plausible is the suggestion that the delay is caused by the sexual harassment scandal that has engulfed Activison in recent times. The fact that a major story broke in the WSJ not long before the delay was announced, may suggest some sort of link, especially if some of the staff involved in the latest walkout were working on that project.

December 8th also happens to be the launch of Halo Infinite. This may be entirely coincidental. It doesn't seem likely that they would actively want to compete for players with another AAA release. Especially one as eagerly anticipated as Halo Infinite. More likely is that identified a few more areas that needed fine-tuning, in an effort to make the game as good as possible before release.

While we may never know definitively the reasons behind the delay, we can talk with a bit more certainty about what you can expect when it finally launches.
