Valerian Star Kris Wu Arrested After Rape Allegations

He might always play the good guy in his movies but several women are claiming that Kris Wu is actually a real-life villain. The Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets star has just been arrested after multiple rape allegations.

In early July, Du Meizhu publicly accused Wu of sexual assault. The 19-year-old college student also revealed that she was not the only one who had been abused by the former K-pop star. According to Du, she is speaking for seven other women who were allegedly raped by Wu. It was further confirmed that three, including Du herself, were minors during the attack.

Du made her allegations on the Chinese social media platform Weibo and the young woman shared how Wu had gotten her drunk then raped her when she was only 17 years old. Wu has denied all allegations but 24 other girls have since shared similar stories on Weibo.

Although things have been quiet in the past few weeks, Du has reemerged to confirm that she and the other women were offered hush payments by Wu's team. She then challenged Wu to surrender himself to the Chinese police.

On July 31, Wu was arrested by the police, who are reportedly investigating the matter. Meanwhile, his lawyers are suing Du for defamation.

This isn't Wu's only legal controversy. He initially rose to fame as one of the Chinese members of the Korean boy group EXO. However, he left the group in 2014 to pursue a solo career. In 2015, his former label SM Entertainment filed a lawsuit against Wu and his agencies for infringing the rights of the other band members. The matter has since been settled.

Wu has worked on several Chinese movies. He also starred in Hollywood films like XXX: Return of Xander Cage and Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets.
